Wines for Summer to Know and Love

Wine

Summer is here, and we're all about spending time outside under the radiant sun. The only thing you need to have a good time with friends and family this summer is the right wine — let's make this summer memorable!

The question is, what are the best wines for summer? Although we all like different things, a few wine styles stand out for their compatibility with warm weather. These are the wines for summer to know and love. Have you tried them all?

1. Rosé

Rosé is the ultimate summer wine, and let's say it aloud — everyone looks good with a glass of pink wine; it's so chic! Rose is not only about the looks, though; it's tart and refreshing, often with generous cherry and cranberry scents over a citrusy and mineral palate.

Dry rosé is best suited for summer, but semi-sweet examples exist, and they're equally delicious. The best part? Rosé is deliciously compatible with a wide range of foods, and it's also fantastic on its own.

Wine to try: Côtes de Provence, Rosé d'Anjou, pink Moscato, any other rosé.

Pair with: Oily fish like salmon and tuna, fish and chips, olives, tossed salads, and Asian stir-fries.

2. Un-oaked White Wine

Most white wine today is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks and bottled with no oak aging. The result is crisp, fruit-forward wine that's perfect for the warm weather.

These wines taste differently depending on the grape used, but you can always expect attractive acidity and a refreshing light body, making these wines easy sippers!

Wine to try: Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, un-oaked Chardonnay, Vermentino, Albariño.

Pair with: White fish, sushi, sashimi, oysters, ceviche, and fresh cheese.

3. Sparkling Wine

Sparkling wine is the very definition of elegance and refinement, and although bubbly wines are perfect for long tablecloth dinners and memorable occasions, they're also lovely summer wines.

Sparkling wine is more than bubbles, the category is one of the most acidic in the wine world, and it's that tartness that can quench your thirst even on the warmest summer days.

Wine to try: Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, Trento

Pair with: Fried finger food, butter-seared seafood, cured meats, and canapés.

What are your favorite wines for summer? Don't worry; you can choose more than one!
