In the fall of 1991, Nike released two pinnacle Air Max products: the Air 180 and the Air Max BW. Following in the footsteps of the Air Max 90, the BW showcased bold, visible Air—but the style broke new ground by creating a wider viewing window into the technology, resulting in the silhouette's abbreviated moniker (BW stands for "Big Window"). Now, the style has returned in a fresh makeup featuring shades of black, white and Persian Violet.
